Reach to Teach (R2T) is a UK-based educational charity, which exists to transform the lives of children in rural and marginalised communities in India by improving the quality of primary education. R2T improves children's prospects by boosting their attendance and supporting government teachers in improving the quality of teaching and learning using internationally proven best practice methods.
Founded in 2003, R2T has grown significantly, from a short-term project that brought lessons to Indian children from a converted bus, to an established organisation improving the learning outcomes of several thousands of children.
R2T believes that all children should have access to the best possible education. Research shows that the most important factor for improving learning is the quality of teaching, which is more important than class size, classroom resources or the design of textbooks.
Apart from running an intensive Education & Community programme in 230 government schools in Gujarat, R2T is significantly expanding its India footprint in the areas of:
- Government Teacher Transformation: training, coaching, and providing peer support platforms for teachers, and bringing scale and sustainability through training government trainers and coaches/CRCs
- Head Teacher Leadership Development: transforming Head Teachers into leaders of learning through training, coaching & peer support platforms
- Community Ownership of Education: bringing communities and schools closer by increasing community awareness of the importance of education and regular attendance, and developing a sense of ownership of their children’s education
